You know stepping out in faith is a funny thing. Whether it is for a new job or maybe you are pursuing the person of your dreams. Maybe its just something small like giving a stranger on the corner a couple of bucks because you feel led to do so. At any point you are able to stop and think to yourself this doesn’t make sense, because in all reality it doesn’t, but this is the beauty of Faith. Our reality is defined based on our connection and reality with God, so things that don’t make sense to us, actually end up making all the sense in the world. You quit one job and another one falls into place. The woman or man of your dreams is actually interested in you, and that couple of dollars you gave ends up allowing that person to sleep inside and in that place someone shares the gospel with them and they come to know Christ.

As Americans we see this thing as a foolish en-devour. Lets face it, we are taught that whats mine is mine and whats yours I want. This idea that we can’t trust anyone other than ourselves with our dreams let alone our monetary possessions. So this idea of faith get lost in translation, that is the translation from Gods idea to what we are taught. The thing being is that faith doesn’t have to do with anything financial at all, its just hearing Gods prompting and moving forward with that prompting. What if right now you had this thought pop into your head that you are supposed to move to Dallas and start working with the homeless population or move to Houston and start working with the 5th ward. Maybe you feel this idea to start working with those who are trafficked in Atlanta or New Orleans. What if you had the idea to just everyday pray for one person on the street no matter who they are. Maybe its collecting shoes for children and giving them to the local shelter. These ideas can seem foolish and make no sense at all. If you pray into them and take steps to pursue them though I promise that in the end you will know you were not crazy for doing so, because God is right there and you will know that it was the right move.

In the bible we all have heard about peter and walking on water, and the woman being healed by just touching the robe of Jesus. These things take faith, but they also came from a need. Peter had to be convinced that it was Jesus and even after he started he sank out of fear. The woman had been bleeding for many years and had to be healed. So many times we will come to a place of faith because we come with our own desires or troubles. I am not saying that these things would not have taken place if they were in perfect health or had no doubt, but because we as humans live by what we can see, and tend to our own needs first, faith comes from a place of what is God doing in me, so that I can go help others.

What if you were to pray about something that you had no desire to do, but you felt God lead you to do. Would you be able to pray about it, or since you have no desire to do so would not pursue it. These things happen all the time and the reality is we all do it. Asking a millionaire to give up his fortune and move to Vietnam to be a missionary. A basketball player to teach kids to play basketball in the inner city instead of making it to the league. Even a Professor to stop teaching in a prestigious college and move to mexico to teach the marginalized.  These things are crazy, but I bet if you ask these people if it was worth it, it will be a resounding yes. You will hear stories of heartache and loss. As well as frustrations and confusion, and them being honest of wanting to quit. But in the end, they know that God has called them there and on the good days wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

If your reading this please don’t take these thoughts as me saying you should never pursue your dreams to be in the NBA or that you can never be a millionaire. Its the idea that if more people were to open up to what God has for them, they would not be in a perpetual state of self loathing and depression. More people in this world would feel loved, because people step up and move to where God is calling them. God is love and if you step out in faith those around you will see God through that.

All we need is more people to step out in faith, and live a little in the crazy, because when you allow God to move in your life, crazy things happen, and it is always worth it!
